Ear Candles
What are ear candles?
Ear candles are hollow tubes made from unbleached cotton and a variety of waxes. The candles vary in size and fit snuggly into the ear, once inserted comfortably the end of the candle is lit.
Each ear takes approximatley 10- 20 minutes.
What are ear candles used for
Ear candles may be used for relaxation, stress, vertigo (dizziness), hearing loss, blocked ears, migraines, allevaite hay fever and tinnitus. The treatment normalises the pressure within the ear and is helpful for ear discomfort following flying or "swimmers ear".
How do ear candles work?
Ear candles are not medical treatments. The treatment increases the blood flow into the ear which stimulates lymphatic drainage, restoring balance and enabling the body to correct any problems. The physical heat from the flame has a warming effect within the ear, which will stimulate and create a spiral energy vortex. This removes mucus in the middle and inner ear, sinuses and nose, it also increases the the mobilty of white blood cells and improves the bodies immune response.
History of ear candling
There are many myths regarding ear candles, some claim that candles have been used by the Hopi tribe of Native Americans and the Egyptians also practised this proceedure, however, there is no verifiable data to prove this. What is known is that over the last 20 years the practice of "candling " has been performed with increasing frequency in Europe and America.
Ear candling is an extremely useful treatment that helps thousands of people. You can get great relief from many symptoms, including stress. Ear candles DO NOT do not cure diseases and you should always consult your Doctor if you suffer with any ear discharge / pain / problems.
Your Treatment
On arrival you will be asked to complete a brief medical questionnaire. Clare will look inside your ear with an otoscope ( a light gently inserted into the ear to see the inner ear.) You will lie on your side whils the candle is inserted and lit. Each candle will take 10- 20 minutes to burn down. You will feel a warmth and hear occasional "popping" Once both ears have been treated you will have a short facial massage.
The whole treatment will last approximately 45 minutes.
